Arizona early-ballot returns by party registration: 2022 General (Nov 8, 2022) and 2024 General (Nov 5, 2024)

COLUMNS (az_early_vote_*.csv)

- All values are cumulative.
- dem / rep / other: by voter party registration (Democratic, Republican, everyone else: independent/PND, Libertarian,
  Green, No Labels, etc.). Not votes.
- dem_minus_rep: dem - rep (negative = more Republican ballots).
- report_date / report_time_az: when the number was posted, Arizona time (MST, UTC-7). For the Maricopa ArcGIS rows it is
  the timestamp in the scraped file name.
- counts_through:
  2024 Uplift rows: from the dashboard's "Last Updated" date. "day_before" = Last Updated is the day before report_date.
  2022 Uplift rows: not stated on the 2022 images ("not_stated"). Each row is the running total of the county return files
  loaded by the time of the post. The post text names the counties added in each update.
  The final Maricopa rows are the post-canvass voted file.
- source_type: OFFICIAL = county file; SECONDARY = party tracker or press. All daily statewide rows are SECONDARY.

   by Sam Almy (@sfalmy). Image header: "Data Source: Arizona Democratic Party Voter File and Arizona County Recorders
   [2024: and AZ SoS]. Not Official Ballot Counts". The numbers come from the "Total / Dem / GOP / Other Ballot Returns"
   boxes on the first image of each update post. In every row, Dem + GOP + Other = Total and Dem - GOP = the image's
   "Dem vs Rep" figure. Several posts a day are kept as separate rows (report_time_az).
   Cross-check: McDonald / US Elections Project RPubs pages built on this same tracker show the same totals for
   10/31/2022 (895,351: 356,230 D / 331,420 R / 207,701 other) and 11/6/2022 (1,508,399: 578,692 / 559,518 / 370,189).
   Copies are in raw/2022/press_secondary/.
2. Maricopa, 2022-11-09 16:22 and 2022-11-10 11:35 (OFFICIAL county data, third-party copy): Maricopa County Elections
   ArcGIS "Early Voting Returns" precinct layers for Total, Democratic and Republican, summed over precincts. These
   copies were scraped and posted on GitHub by az-data-guru. There is no Other layer, so other = total - dem - rep.
3. Maricopa final (OFFICIAL county file, third-party copy): the county's final voted file ("FINAL-VOTED FILE-NOV 2022-ALL
   VOTERS BPQR", hashed voter IDs, posted on GitHub by az-data-guru). Counts are by party for BALTYPE R (early ballot by
   mail/drop-off) and B (early in person). The 72 MB zip is not mirrored; see sources.csv for its URL.
4. Maricopa and Pima, 2022-10-25 (SECONDARY, press): Arizona Republic, Oct. 25 entry. As published, the Maricopa party
   figures add up to 40 fewer than its stated total.

COVERAGE AND GAPS
- 2022 statewide: 39 rows on 24 report dates, 2022-10-12 to 2022-11-08 (last post 12:46 MST on Election Day).
  No post on 10-16, 10-23, 10-30, 11-06 (Sundays). No statewide party rows after 2022-11-08 12:46.
- 2022 post-election (early ballots dropped off on Election Day): Maricopa only, 2022-11-09, 2022-11-10 and final.
  No Pima or other-county post-election party data found.
- 2022 county-level daily party data: none found (no official daily party file is posted by Maricopa, Pima or the SOS).
  The county rows are Maricopa 10-25, 11-09, 11-10 and final, plus Pima 10-25.
- 2024 statewide: 29 rows on 24 report dates, 2024-10-10 to 2024-11-05 (08:48 MST on Election Day; Last Updated 11/4).
  No post on 10-09, 10-11, 10-13, 10-26. One image (2024-11-01 09:15) has no "Last Updated" label.
  No 2024 county-level party data and no post-election 2024 rows.
- 2018: not included.
- Nothing is estimated or interpolated. Missing dates are left out.
